Who this policy covers
This policy applies to personal information collected through sunshinecoasttreecare.com.au and by phone on (07) 5408 6029. It is written to the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Sunshine Coast Tree Care is a referral website, which matters for privacy: the main reason we hold your details is to pass them to an arborist who can do your job. That disclosure is the whole point of the enquiry, and it is set out in full below.
What we collect
When you submit an enquiry form or call us, we collect your name, phone number, email address if you give one, the suburb or address of the property, and whatever you tell us about the tree and the work you want done.
We do not collect government identifiers, payment card numbers, or bank details through this website. If a job proceeds, any payment arrangements are between you and the business that quotes the work.
Our host records standard server log information - IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps. We may use analytics to understand which pages are read. That data is aggregated and is not used to identify you individually.
Why we collect it
To respond to your enquiry, to pass it to a suitable arborist so they can contact you and quote, and to follow up on the outcome. We also use enquiry patterns in aggregate to work out which topics to write about.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not add you to a marketing list because you asked for a quote.
Who it is disclosed to
Enquiries are disclosed to the tree care business or businesses that service your area, so they can contact you. That business becomes responsible for your information from the point it receives it, under its own privacy obligations.
We also use service providers who process data on our behalf - our web host, our form provider and our email provider. They are permitted to use the information only to provide those services to us.
We do not disclose personal information overseas for marketing purposes. Some of our service providers store data on servers outside Australia as part of ordinary cloud hosting.
How long it is kept
Enquiry records are kept while they are needed to service the enquiry and to deal with any question that arises from the work, and then for as long as required for tax, insurance and legal purposes. After that they are deleted or de-identified.
Security
Information is held in access-controlled systems, transmitted over encrypted connections, and accessible only to people who need it to do their job. No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
Cookies
This site uses cookies for basic functionality and, where analytics are enabled, to measure traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them will not stop you reading the site or using the phone number.
Embedded enquiry forms are served by a third-party form provider and may set their own cookies, governed by that provider's privacy policy.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Call (07) 5408 6029 or use the contact page.
We will respond within a reasonable period, normally 30 days. If you are unhappy with how a privacy complaint has been handled, you can escalate it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Changes
This policy may be updated. The version on this page is the current one, and material changes will be reflected here rather than notified individually. See also our terms and conditions and disclaimer.
